We're a new chess club located in Temescal Valley, CA, founded in 2023. We meet twice a month at the El Cerrito Public Library and once a month at the Deleo Regional Sports Park.
Our club prides itself on being inclusive, welcoming players of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels, from beginners to seasoned pros. We're dedicated to creating an environment where everyone feels valued and respected, and where individuals can share our love of chess and enjoy the game together.
We hope you can join us at one of our meetings!
Chess encourages sportsmanship, patience, and effective communication. It also fosters friendships, teamwork, empathy, and respect among children.
Chess isn't just a game—it's a tool that teaches kids vital skills for school and beyond. By playing chess, kids learn to think ahead, strategize, and sharpen their critical thinking abilities. These skills make studying and problem-solving easier and sets them up for academic success.
Chess requires sustained attention and concentration throughout the game, helping children improve their ability to focus, ignore distractions, and maintain mental clarity even under pressure.
